Watch description
About
The Royal Oak was designed by the late Gérald Genta in 1972 and was inspired by a naval porthole. This industrial approach with its angular design and visible octagonal screws on the bezel, has since become synonymous with Audemars Piguet.
The Royal Oak was initially exclusively made from stainless steel and became the first high-end luxury watch crafted from a nonprecious metal. This was considered a risky move during the quartz crisis, yet today it has transpired to be one of the most celebrated watches ever produced by the esteemed manufacturer
